The Will Sage AstorU.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including more than 91,000 Hyundai and Kia vehicles because the electric oil pump assembly may overheat and increase the risk of a fire.
Kia also recalled more than 120,000 Niro and Niro Plug-in hybrid vehicles because a fluid leak may result in an engine compartment fire.
Car owners can check USA TODAY’s automotive recall database or search NHTSA’s database for new recalls. The NHTSA website also allows you to search for recalls based on your vehicle identification number, or VIN.

Kia recalls 120,000 Niro vehicles for risk of engine compartment fire
Kia is recalling 121,411 of its 2017-2022 Kia Niro and 2018-2022 Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrids vehicles because a fluid leak may result in an engine compartment fire.
Kia will mail notification letters to owners by Sept. 29. Kia dealers will inspect and replace the hydraulic clutch actuator as necessary and install a new fuse, free of charge.

Hyundai recalls 52,000 Palisade, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra and Kona vehicles for fire risk
Hyundai is recalling 52,008 of its 2023-2024 Palisade SUVs and 2023 Tucson, Sonata, Elantra and Kona vehicles, according to the NHTSA.
Hyundai will mail notification letters to owners by Sept. 25. Customers can bring their vehicles to Hyundai dealerships for a free inspection and replacement.
“Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete,” the NHTSA said. “The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat.”

- 2023 Hyundai Kona
- 2023 Hyundai Sonata
- 2023 Hyundai Tucson
- 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade
Kia recalls 39,000 Seltos, Soul and Sportage vehicles for fire risk
Kia is recalling 39,765 of its 2023-2024 Seltos SUVs and 2023 Soul and Sportage vehicles, the NHTSA said.
Kia will mail notification letters to owners by Sept. 28. Customers can bring their vehicles to Kia dealerships for a free inspection and replacement.

Hyundai, Kia recall:91,000 vehicles for fire risk: ‘Park outside and away from structures’
Lucid recalls 5,500 Air vehicles because windshield wipers could fail
Lucid is recalling 5,523 of its 2022-2023 Lucid Air vehicles because the wiper arm nuts may loosen, causing the windshield wipers to fail, the NHTSA said.
Lucid will mail notification letters to owners by Sept. 25. Customers can bring their vehicles to Lucid Service Centers for a free inspection and replacement as necessary.
